Overview

Summary/ Objective
The position of a Project Manager is responsible for day-to-day performance of their project and to guide multiple job and multiple craft projects toward its projected goal and the projects’ goal of Safety, Quality, Productivity and Service. A Project Manager will supervise the field execution to maximize the quality of the Company while maintaining the specified expectations of the client and ensure safe working environment while performing work. A Project Manager will conduct all Company business in accordance with Company policies and procedures and maintain professionalism throughout all business dealings, both internally and externally.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

1. Enforce Company policies with Superintendents.
2. Communicate with Director of Operations as requested to ensure timeliness of project and attend meetings as necessary with Operations and Client.
3. Assist in the selection and development of field personnel.
4. Support the planning and estimating staff by assisting in the development of customer proposals.
5. Oversee the enforcement of all Safety, Company and Client policies and procedures.
6. Focus on completing projects in a quality manner showing the Company’s overall commitment to high standards.
7. Manage costs for each project.
8. Manage multiple projects, tasks and resources.
9. Continually evaluate the use of full-time and project-based personnel.
10. Demonstrate excellent relational skills with customer, sub-contractors and subordinates.
11. Pursue the use of new methods and technologies in an effort to shorten schedules and increase profits without sacrificing quality standards.
12. Hold daily “tail-gate” safety meetings at the beginning of each shift.
13. Follow all Company Safety, Quality Control/ Quality Assurance procedures and OSHA guidelines.
14. Understand and articulate mechanical concepts (i.e. drawings).
15. See, read, write and understand communication including directions, instructions and warning signs.
16. Maintain poise and focus under time constraint.
17. Attend and complete trainings as required by the Company and client.
18. Pass all required drug/alcohol testing and background requirements.
19. Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibility
This position will have extensive supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
This job operates in a petrochechemical / refinery environment. Exposure to cold working conditions during winter months and hot working conditions during the summer months. Exposure to noise, workers must wear protecting hearing equipment or frequently shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level. In an emergency situation, exposure to hazardous chemicals may occur and the use of a respirator is required. All employees will be required to be fit tested for the various respirators used as well as the ability to successfully pass a pulmonary function test (PFT).

 

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The position of a Project Manager can be extremely physical at times. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to bend the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist, using the lower extremities and back muscles and moving on foot, particularly for long distances. Must be able to bend, stoop, walk, climb, squat, reach, kneel, push/pull, stand, sit and lift more than 50 pounds.

 

Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are variable/ project dependent. Over-time work is common and may be required as job duties demand.


Travel
Travel is expected. Extensive travel throughout U.S. and overnight stay for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent and 7 years of managerial experience and at least 5 years of supervisory experience in related industry. Class “A” driver’s license and a clean MVR.

 

Preferred Education and Experience
10 years of managerial experience and at least 5 years of supervisory experience in related industry. First Aid and CPR trained.
